Newsletter Info
The
DAYTONA HOGCALL newsletter is available online, with pictures and in
color! The newsletter will appear online at an earlier date
(usually a week or two) than you will receive it by mail. You may
open the Adobe file, read through it, save it or print it - at your
leisure.
Members only
A password is required to access Chapter News, Minutes, Birthdays, New Members and Classified Ads. The login is given out at the monthly meetings or you may email Lea for the information. It is not your national login. The newsletter is no longer password protected.
Why have a members' only section?
Please advise Membership of (physical, mailing) address changes because your newsletter will not forward.
The newsletter is an Adobe Acrobat file. Adobe acrobat is easily downloaded, it's all automatic so have no fear, just download from the Adobe website.
Simply select (click on) the "month" and the file will open for you. You may print the file exactly as it is when it opens or you may save the file and print only the calendars and read the rest of the newsletter at your convenience. If you decide to print all, or any, of the newsletter - you may select "grayscale" from your printer and not print it in color as it appears.
Update Emails
At the end of each month, as the newsletter is completed, an email is sent out with the upcoming month's events in it for you to print or add to your calendars (as well as weekly emails for upcoming events). Generally, the majority of all your necessary information for rides and events is included in the calendar section. Any event that needs additional information will be listed in "Activities" (hotel numbers to call for reservations, links to sign up for rides, etc.) OR there will be emails sent to those interested by the organizer of the event.NOTE: As a courtesy to everyone in your address book, it is best to send group emails as a BCC (blind copy). This way you are not spreading a friend's email address to someone they do not know and it thus remains hidden from everyone else when sent. All email programs have a bcc and if you can't see yours, check your Preferences and activate it. This is often how email addresses end up in the hands of spammers. Additionally, if someone hits the Reply All button they are replying to perfect strangers. And be sure your NAME is displayed, not just your email address (I don't know who "hog@hotmail" is, for example. Set it up with your name showing also).
Having trouble getting into the members only section?
Some members have been
unable to get into the password required, members only section. It
seems to depend on which "internet browser" you use, and possibly
even security settings on your computer. Are you trying to get in
from work? Lots of work systems have extremely high
security settings - thereby preventing some features used from
working.
From most members' experiences, unless you use
"internet explorer" (not AOL) you may not be able to login. If
you have AOL, login as usual with AOL, minimize your AOL browser by
clicking on the left button in the upper right hand corner of your
AOL browser. Then go to your desktop and open your
internet browser, which is the blue
showing
on your desktop and go to
http://www.daytonahog.com.
You should then be able to login in the member sections.
Let me know if you continue to have difficulty logging in.
