Mr. Bacon - The Traveling Hog Competition
Updated Saturday, April 17, 2010 09:56 PM
There will be a ride every two months to bring home the bacon!
The more riders, the better the chance of winning! If you keep
Mr. Bacon the most during the year, you win a plaque. This is
an inter-chapter competition among the eight central Florida HOG
chapters and it originated with the Daytona HOG
Chapter.
The Traveling HOG was created to encourage inter-chapter socializing
allowing chapter members to meet members from other chapters, ride
to new locations and join in on rides with other chapters they’ve
gotten to know.
The Daytona chapter will continue to be the overall administrator of the central Florida Traveling HOG program. The rules are:
Rules as of January 2009:
| 1 | The Traveling Hog competition will be run on a 12-month schedule and all competitions are scheduled for the year at the inter-chapter meeting. It was voted on to limit attendance at the officers’ meeting to ten (10) officers (elected or discretionary officers) from each chapter. If you want to make it a ride, other members are welcome to enjoy their time in a separate dining room. |
| 2 | The Traveling HOG is held at a location to be determined by the winning, hosting chapter. |
| 3 | The Traveling HOG drawing, for Mr. Bacon, will be held at 1:00 p.m. with a 12:50 p.m. cut-off for sign-in. Beginning and ending times for the Traveling HOG event are at the discretion of the hosting chapter. |
| 4 | The 50/50 drawing will be held in conjunction with the Traveling HOG drawing at 1:00 p.m. |
| 5 | The existing Traveling Hog trophy (Mr. Bacon) will continue to be used, as will a plaque for the year end’s winner of who had the trophy the most. |
| 6 | Additionally, a Log Book will be provided so that each winner of the trophy can record (written and pictures) the travels of Mr. Bacon. The trophy and log book will be turned over at each drawing to the new winner. |
| 7 |
Winning of the competition will be based upon the drawing of a
ticket. Tickets will be obtained in the following manner: |
| 8 | The hosting chapter is NOT eligible for that month’s competition. |
| 9 | If the sponsoring chapter has other chapter obligations, then one member of that chapter needs to be designated to be ready to run the competition and turn over the Traveling Hog to the winner. |
| 10 | The winning chapter must announce the date (if necessary to change) no later than one week after winning the traveling HOG. The winning chapter must announce place to be held no later than two weeks after winning the traveling HOG. |
| 11 | It is expected that the hosting chapter will also conduct a 50/50 drawing with 50% of the proceeds being retained by the hosting chapter. |
| 12 | All National HOG rules that pertain to conducting a HOG event apply at the competition, up to the time that the next winner of the Traveling HOG is announced apply. |
| 13 |
The Daytona chapter will continue to be the overall administrator of
the central Florida Traveling HOG program. |
| 14 | Chapters considered to be members/participants of the central Florida HOG chapters include the following chapters: Clermont, Crystal River, Daytona, Lake County, Ocala, Orlando, Seminole County, and Space Coast. |
| 15 |
If for some reason there is no winner at a competition, the chapter
in possession of the traveling HOG retains it until the next month’s

THE TRAVELING HOG CHRONICLES (HOG Logs)
As told by Mr. Bacon to various chapter members, while he stays with them. Since some of the chapters' members aren't familiar with me, Mr. Bacon, I wanted to be available online so everyone knows where I've been and what I'm up to. So I sat Lea down and started dictating my life history. It's nowhere near complete - but I want to get it out there so you can start reading about me.
The Chronicles are in Adobe Reader pdf format and easy to ready - but it's a large file. Rather than increase the size of the file, there will be subsequent issues. Hope you enjoy it as much as I think you will.
You might want to check back occasionally because
it will hopefully be updated from the beginning of my life - as I get
others to tell their stories to someone. You know what they say,
"there's a million stories in the city, and mine is one of them".
